The Beginning
Bana Mazembe Band was born out of a deep love for Congolese Rhumba and Lingala music — a genre that has moved hearts across Africa for decades. The name “Bana Mazembe” pays homage to the legendary spirit of the Congo, a nod to the rich musical heritage that inspires every note we play.
Founded in Nairobi, Kenya, the band brought together some of the city's finest musicians — guitarists, saxophonists, vocalists, and percussionists — all united by one mission: to keep the authentic sound of Rhumba alive and bring it to new audiences everywhere.
